cover up tattoo

So the nineties were awesome, but not everyone got tattoos that they want to keep now, and Katrina came to me to help her out. Her tribal armband had faded and didn’t really represent her any more, she wanted something to fill up her arm a little better, a lot of arm bands cut into the shape of your upper arm and make it hard to add a bigger piece with out going around it or covering it up. So I got rid of the tattoo for her and the design did not have to suffer for it. I told her it would work as long as the heart was big. I know its hard to tell how the process since it’s the befor photo and then the finished product but what I did was cover up the tribal with the black and purple roses going through the sacred heart. It still sticks to the original idea and she got exactly what she was looking for. We did this tattoo in 2 session, the last one was all the color which took about 4 hours. By the end it was really hard to tell that it was a cover up since colors are always the brightest when you first get tattooed it might need a touch up as it settles in over the existing tattoo, this photo is really what the final product looked like. oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is a 16-day festival held each year in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, running from late September to early October. It is one of the most famous events in Germany and the world’s largest fair, with some six million people attending every year. The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the Munich event. My client Russ has gone to Oktoberfest for the past few years and wanted to get a sexy german beer maid wear her Dirndl, representing  his amazing times there. The hearts are these big cookies with frosting on them that they wear around and have different saying on them. I don’t think you can go there and not have a good time. I’ve heard the stories it’s tempting to go and witness the mayhem. We did this tattoo a while ago but I just got a photo and really wanted to post it especially with the fest starting up at the end of September. So hopefully Russ is ready to get his boy pin up on the other side wearing his Lederhosen after this years trip.  Danielle Distefano

Tiger and Dove by Matt Greenhalgh

Here is a tiger I did for our friend Charles. We Started to work the other side with a matching chest panel and are waiting to do a dragon on the other arm, I cant wait!!!!!!!! Charles is super mellow and a great client to work with. Seeing Charles’s work all healed up on 13 day made me so stoked to do more japanese style tattoos that have this type of layout. I think it looks super sharp and so intentional. Theres a reason this type of layout has developed into a tradition, it works, it looks great, it ages great, it’s timeless, and it’s powerful. thanks Charles this tattoo was so much fun for me,  I cant believe this is how i get to pay the rent.

Koi fish by Matt Greenhalgh

Finished this sleeve for Dustin a little while ago. Dustin had a bunch of little tattoos on his arm, rather then cover them up and have the design get to heavy we chose to work around them. I think it worked well.
